An Evening with Ralph Büchler
Ralph Büchler is a well respected bee scientist who has worked with honey bees all his adult life. For over 20 years he has led the Bee Institute in Kirchhain, which is one of the larger German beekeeping training and research centres. He has authored a large number of papers, book contributions and scientific films in addition to participating in many research projects.
Ralph will give four lectures to the National Honey Show Programme, but this presentation at the Central Association of Bee-Keepers (CABK) Social Evening will be in a lighter vein. In “An Evening with Ralph Büchler” Ralph will answer questions from the audience that hopefully will be about his career and some of the research work he has been involved in. There often appears to be a gap between beekeepers and scientists and this will be an opportunity to bridge it, so perhaps we can find out such things as how they operate, how they are funded, what goes right or wrong and how their findings filter down to ordinary beekeepers.
